Ways of looking at things, 2023

Installation view, Scalo Lambrate, Milan
The initial ideas of this project are taken from the urban context of Colonne di San Lorenzo, a well-known piazza in Milano. Here I first experienced the historical site focusing on personal impressions and emotions, which guided me along the process. A boundary created by architectural elements, the value given to specific objects, a blank space that defines the quality for the place; these considerations have been explored through the layering of chosen materials related to the idea of emptiness, frame, perspective.
The whole is more than the sum of its part has been taken as inspiration for the installation and collages to convey the notion of harmony founded in the collective aspect of each singular aspect, as any object has its own unique identity. The greater means happens when parts come together. Connection cannot form with no actors, as well as the objects cannot bond without relation.
Wooden frame, painted canvas, tree branches compose an installation that is open for the public to create their own perspective by observing from different points of view.
Collages of filtered images represent the binding between reality and imagination, complemented with a poem that speaks from a non-human and non-living perspective. All presented materials are created to question the way we value thing, to revise the importance of each object with the pursuit of wholeness.
